This 1955 Replica Teddy Bear with a turnable head mechanism is from 1990.
The patent for a neck mechanism was originally received by Steiff in 1931. It was used for plush animals, until 1955, when their first Teddy Bear was released. It was available in 2 sizes and a total of only 3,539 Bears were ever created.
1955 Replica is 25 cm tall, fully jointed and stuffed with excelsior. He has a tail, which when moved, with adjust the head accordingly, using an internal iron mechanism. He has been sewn from two, decadent mohairs in latte and palest hazelnut, with coordinating, wool felt paws, plus glass, two tone, brown eyes, with a matching hand stitched nose and mouth. A happy yellow ribbon bow completes his look.
Complete with box and certificate, plastic lid of the box shows signs of age.
